San Diego, CA (Sports Network) - San Diego Chargers president Dean Spanos released a statement on Thursday regarding recent reports surrounding the job statuses of head coach Norv Turner and general manager A.J. Smith.

According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, the Chargers are expected to fire both men at the conclusion of this season, however, Spanos shot down those claims.

"There is only one person in this organization who will make those decisions and that's me, and I haven't shared my thoughts with anyone," Spanos said. "I will make my evaluations at the end of the season. Anything coming out now from sources or otherwise is pure speculation."

The Chargers, who began the season 3-1, have lost seven of their past eight games, including four in a row, and will likely miss the playoffs for the third straight year.
