Arlington, TX (Sports Network) - The Texas Rangers avoided arbitration with Neftali Feliz, signing the pitcher to a contract for the 2013 season.

The Rangers' erstwhile closer, Feliz was moved to the starting rotation in 2012 and made seven starts before being placed on the 15-day disabled list on May 19 with right elbow inflammation.

The 24-year-old underwent Tommy John surgery on Aug. 1 and will begin the upcoming campaign on the DL as he continues to rehab from the procedure.

Feliz compiled 72 saves from 2010-11.
