Orioles get Valencia from Red Sox

Baltimore, MD (Sports Network) - The Baltimore Orioles have acquired infielder Danny Valencia from the Boston Red Sox in exchange for cash considerations.

Valencia played in a combined 44 games for Minnesota and Boston in 2012, batting .188 with three homers and 21 RBI.

In 283 career contests with the Twins and Red Sox, Valencia has hit .257 with 25 homers and 133 RBI.

To make room on the 40-man roster, Baltimore designated infielder Joe Mahoney for assignment.
