Clearwater, FL (Sports Network) - Ryan Howard hit an RBI double to spark a three-run opening frame to back a sharp Cole Hamels, as the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Atlanta Braves, 10-5, in Grapefruit League action.
Howard added his first spring homer in the fifth, a solo blast off Atlanta closer Craig Kimbrel.
Hamels gave up one unearned run on four hits and recorded five strikeouts in three innings of work.
John Mayberry clubbed a two-run homer for the Phillies, while newcomer Michael Young also finished with two RBI.
Tyler Pastornicky belted a three-run homer to go with a run-scoring single for Atlanta. Braves starter Paul Maholm allowed five runs on six hits with two walks in 2 2/3 innings.
