Detroit, MI (Sports Network) - The New York Yankees have claimed right-handed pitcher Jim Miller off waivers from the Oakland Athletics.

In 33 relief appearances, the 30-year-old went 2-1 with a 2.59 ERA over four stints with the Athletics in 2012. He allowed just 14 earned runs in 48.2 innings pitched.

While with the team, Miller held opposing batters to a .217 average, and was exceptionally good against lefties. In 81 official at-bats, only 11 left- handers got hits off Miller.
