Robert Walz started his career in Salt Lake television twenty years ago. He joined the reporting staff at ABC 4 News in 2000. Robert is also an Assistant Professor on the journalism faculty at Brigham Young University where he teaches classes in news writing and news reporting.

Robert grew up in Canoga Park, California and served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Minnesota and Nauvoo, Ill. He graduated from Brigham Young University in 1982 and started his journalism career as the weekend anchor at KIVI television in Boise, Idaho. Walz moved back to Utah in 1984 working as a reporter and anchor at another Salt Lake area television station for 15 years.

Robert has received several journalism awards for his work. His enterprise earned him stints reporting in the Middle East and Africa. He has written and produced several documentaries - one, entitled “Save a Life”, detailed the growing problem of anorexia and bulimia in adolescent teens. The program recently won a national Tele Award.

Robert left television briefly to take a position as Executive Vice President of Dynamic Information System & Exchange. He managed the internet company’s in house advertising agency and a production company known as Broadcast and Internet Media Service.

Robert served as a bishop in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1990 to 1995.

Robert married Michelle Davis in 1979. They are the parents of three boys. He enjoys the outdoors and loves early morning runs, weight lifting and playing basketball.
