Utah's only broadcasting climatologist, Clayton Brough is one of the few broadcast industry professionals who is also a full-time teacher. For more than twenty-five years, Clayton has taught earth science, geography, and journalism in Utah's public schools, in addition to his duties as ABC 4's weekend weathercaster. (He celebrated twenty-five years at ABC4-KTVX in June 2005.)

Clayton graduated from Brigham Young University in 1975 with an M.S. degree in geography. His time at BYU also included extensive post-graduate work in applied climatology. Clayton has written and edited numerous publications about Utah's weather and climate and presently serves as director of the Utah Center for Climate and Weather (UCCW).

In 2004, Clayton underwent chemotherapy for Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. His cancer is now in remission and he is very active in fund-raising efforts related to finding a cure for blood-related cancers (such as leukemia and lymphoma).

Clayton currently teaches geography and journalism at Eisenhower Junior High School in Salt Lake City and serves as a geography instructor at Brigham Young University (Salt Lake Center) and the University of Utah. He and his wife, Ethel, have four children and eight grandchildren. In their spare time Clayton and Ethel enjoy studying family history and genealogy.
