SALT LAKE COUNTY (ABC 4 News) - Traffic along I-15 on the border of Davis and Salt Lake Counties comes to a screeching halt Tuesday morning following a semi-truck crash.

Authorities say the truck driver fell asleep at the wheel just after five o'clock. His truck hit the cement barricade on I-15 near 2500 North, causing the truck to flip and crash on the northbound lanes of the freeway. Police say the accident was not weather related.

The man's truck was carrying thousands of pounds of hamburger patties. The load was tossed all across I-15. Authorities quickly shut down several lanes between 600 North and 2600 North. Northbound traffic was completely closed, southbound traffic trickled through on lane until about 6:45 A.M. when the southbound lanes reopened.

Northbound lanes remain closed at this hour. Stay tuned to ABC 4 News and abc4.com for further updates on this developing story.
