SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) -Members of the Utah Watercolor Society are sharing their skills with budding artists at The Children's Center. The non-profit agency is celebrating its 50th anniversary.
Dr. Douglas Goldsmith says the center has been treating young children experiencing mild to severe emotional problems for decades. “Over the fifty years that we have been here, as now the largest agency of our kind in the country, we have helped literally tens of thousands of children and their family’s live happier lives."
The Children’s Center has become a place of hope for families with children experiencing mental health issues. Therapists work closely with parents to heal behavioral and emotional problems in very small children. Dr. Goldsmith, a child psychologist, and the director of the center says the problems range from the very serious, to as simple as sleeping and toileting problems. The goal is to get all of their little patients back on track.
The watercolors created by the children will be sold at an upcoming luncheon celebrating the 50th anniversary. The event will be held February 9, 2012 at 11:00 am at the Gallivan Center. Tickets are $35 dollars and all proceeds benefit The Children’s Center.
