Layton, Utah (ABC 4 News) - An ABC4 exclusive. We uncover documents by the state’s Division of Plant Industry which reveal that the company: Bugman Pest & Lawn, Inc has been cited for violations before.
Bugman Pest & Lawn is now being investigated by the State agency along with the City of Layton after two little girls passed away over the weekend. Police say chemicals used by the company in a fumigation attempt may have possibly led to the children’s fatalities. However, it is early in the investigation for any conclusions the two agencies told ABC4 and nothing will be final until toxicology reports are complete.
Documents reveal that thee first time the company was cited, it was for clerical errors in their record keeping; the second, for the mishandling of certain chemicals. Meaning, while the technician was certified, he wasn’t certified in the chemicals application process
Another aspect the state revealed they’re looking into is whether or not the directions in the chemical, Fumitoxin were followed. Two aspects being looked at, whether the chemical was used in temperatures below 40 degrees and/or the chemical was applied less than 15 feet from the Toone family home.
Stay with ABC4 for any ongoing aspects to the investigation, along with updated reports.
