SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC 4 News) - The Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office now says that two recent fatal shootings by officers were within the law.

The first shooting happened last month in South Jordan. In a letter issued yesterday, the DA says 41-year old Russell Pennington rammed patrol cars several times after a chase, and then lunged out of the car window and toward an officer, who shot and killed pennington.

The other shooting happened last week. Officers responded to multiple gun shots at a Millcreek apartment complex.

Deputies say George Huntzinger fired a shotgun at officers in the parking lot, then went to his balcony and raised his gun at them. That's when a sergeant shot huntzinger in the head.
