Salt Lake County unveils new budget proposal

KEARNS, Utah (ABC 4 News) - On the eve of Election Day, Salt Lake County's mayor is unveiling his budget proposal for next year. Tonight, the mayor's staff presented a spending plan that cuts $164 million from the current $801 million county budget. It includes cutting several county jobs. "The Mayor is very transparent and wants to get the word out, and explain what happened and how we did it, how we proposed the budget." said Darin Casper today, CFO of the Mayor's operations. "It was a fairly substantial problem." It's one of several "Community Conversations" planned to give people a firsthand look at the budget proposal.
