SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Salt Lake County officials have decided to waive late fees and extend the deadline for residents in unincorporated parts of the county to pay a police fee.
About 13,000 people left the bill unpaid last month. The fees go to subsidizing the county's contribution to Unified Police Department services.
The Salt Lake Valley Law Enforcement Service Area Board on Thursday suspended the 10 percent late fee and extended the April 1 deadline.
Those who didn't pay the first bill will be asked to pay for both the first and second installments by late August. If they don't, they could face late charges and both bills could be certified as delinquent.
