SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - We now know the identity of the man who police say fired the shots that put Meadowlark Elementary into lockdown Tuesday afternoon.
Salt Lake City Police arrested Ernesto Perez and booked him into the Salt Lake County Jail on 7 counts of aggravated assault, 1 count of domestic violence related aggravated assault, 3 count of domestic violence in the presence of a child and 1 count of tampering with evidence.
Police say it all started with some sort of domestic dispute between Perez and his girlfriend. The girlfriend's relatives came to the house and began arguing the Perez, who went inside, grabbed a gun and fired several shots.
Police have not yet located the firearm.
