Officers cleared in Ogden shootout investigation

OGDEN, Utah (ABC 4 News) - A police spokesperson for the Ogden Police Department says  officers involved in a deadly shootout during a drug raid have been cleared of any wrongdoing.

Ogden Police spokesperson Danielle Croyle said an internal investigation the Ogden Police Department and the Weber County Attorney's office has cleared 7 officers who responded to the officer involved shooting.

Croyle said the officers will return to active duty status before the end of the week.

Croyle said that the officers all responded to the shots fired call they were not a part of the search warrant or the Weber-Morgan drug task force.

None of the cleared officers were injured in the shootout with Matthew David Stewart, who was charged in the death of officer Jared Francom and the attempted murder of 6 others.

Five officers were seriously injured in the shootout, as was Stewart.
