WEST JORDAN, Utah (ABC 4 News) – A day after Terry Lee Black is charged with little, 6-year-old Sierra Newbold’s murder, neighbors are still trying to come to terms with all that’s happened in the last couple of weeks. They’re praising West Jordan police for putting the man behind bars whom they suspect took the life of such a shining star.

6-year-old Sierra Newbold had a smile that only a bright, bubbly 6-year-old could have; unrestrained and absolutely adorable. Those who knew her best say they never saw her without a smile on her face. Even those neighbors who may not have known her name knew of Sierra’s big personality.

Cora Jckowski said, “I saw her up and down the street as a little bubbly person.”

Sierra’s best friend’s mother says one of Sierra’s favorite things to do was to come over and dress up like a princess.

Claire Evenson said, “All the time, dress shoes, the dress, the tiara. It was the first thing she wanted to do was princess.”

Little Sierra was well-rounded, aside from playing princess she also liked to swim and play soccer. She was hard to beat on the Orange Crush soccer team.

The night before she was killed neighbors say she was out with her sister riding her scooter and then went over to another neighbor’s house for a water balloon fight. She was always outside and always having fun. Now even after she’s gone neighbors say she’s smiling down on them.

“Early last year I planted an Easter lily and I said ‘oh it’s going to die,’ but you know when it bloomed? It bloomed yesterday,” said Jckowski.

It was Tuesday when police announced they had charged Terry Lee Black with 6-year-old Sierra Newbold’s kidnapping, sexual assault and murder.
