SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - A Utah judge has denied a request from Curtis Allgier to change lawyers.

Allgier is accused of killing a Utah prison guard during an escape attempt in 2007.

In a decision announced on Thursday, Third District Court Judge Paul Maughan denied Alligier's request to dismiss his public defenders assigned to his case because of perceived conflict of interest.

Allgier alleged that his attorneys failed to preserve some evidence and have disclosed information that should have been kept private.

Maughan ruled that there was no evidence of a conflict, nor probable that an attorney-client privilege would be in jeopardy.

Allgier is accused of gunning down and killing Stephen Anderson during a medical visit to the University of Utah Medical Center in June 2007.
