DRAPER, Utah (ABC4 News) In the same place you can get your bread, meat and vegetables, you can now get your H1N1 swine flu vaccine. Harmons and Smiths grocery stores started administering the swine flu shots to those who made appointments earlier this week. Each store received 200 doses of the scarce vaccine from the Salt Lake Valley Health Department and are providing to only to those in the priority groups as indentifed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Harmons is charging a $10 administrative fee for the convienience of providing the shots in their stores in neighborhoods in the Salt Lake Valley. Friday at the Draper store Wayne Walter got his shot and told ABC4's Ross Becker "Well, I seen it on the news and so we just went over here right away cause we just live right across the street". Holly Kielar was also one of the first to get her vaccination at the Draper Harmon's, she said "My mom was scouting it out and she found out about it for me and she gave me a call and said come in."
Harmons says all its appointments are filled already for any supply it gets in next week. For more details on availability of the swine flu vaccine, return to the ABC4.com home page and click on the H1N1 tab in the orange box.
