PROVO, Utah (ABC 4 News) - Child actor Gary Coleman died at approximately 12:05 p.m. on Friday at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center.

A hospital press release said that family members and close friends were at Coleman's side when life support was terminated.

Coleman suffered an intracranial hemorrhage at his home in Utah on the evening of May 26, 2010.

The press release said that as of mid morning on May 27, Coleman was conscious and lucid, but by early afternoon that same day, he was slipping in and out of consciousness and his condition worsened.

The press release also said that family members expressed their appreciation and gratitude for the support and prayers that have been expressed for Gary and for them.

Gary Coleman moved to Utah in 2005 after starring in Church Ball, an independent movie about LDS church basketball competitions.

Coleman met his wife Shannon Price during filming and moved into a Santaquin home with her in Utah County.

The actor starred in the TV family sit-com Diff'rent Strokes between 1978 and 1986.

Coleman struggled for work after the show was canceled and had legal battle with his parents over money he earned as a child.

Coleman's Diff'rent Strokes co-stars also had their share of troubles as well. Todd Bridges, who played Coleman's older brother on the show had several run-ins with the law related to drug problems.

Dana Plato, who played and older sister to the brothers on the show had drug problems as well, and died in 1999 from a prescription drug overdose.

Coleman had some legal troubles since his move to Utah in 2005. He pleaded no contest to a disorderly conduct charge in 2008 after an encounter with some fans at a bowling alley. He was also recently involved in a domestic dispute with his wife. Police also recently responded to Coleman's home after an apparent suicide attempt by Coleman, who overdosed on Oxycontin.

Shannon has a history of VIOLENCE against Gary. Last year, Shannon was ARRESTED for DOMESTIC VIOLENCE against him. She later plead GUILTY to the offense. This apparently was NOT IMPORTANT enough to report by FOX, ABC4, KSL or 2News. Gary’s wife Shannon Price was reportedly ALONE in the home with Gary when he suffered a VERY SERIOUS head injury. A hew hours later, Gary fell into a coma. And Shannon – being his next of kin – decided to remove him from life support, ending his life. If Shannon was the victim of a serious injury from a “fall” with Gary Coleman alone with Shannon, YOU BET the police WOULD investigate!! Why? Probably because she is MORMON! As in other cases such as Dr. Steven Pack , who traded pills for sex (http://www.sltrib.com/ci_13216977?source=most_viewed) and Max Cannon, who received 120 days for a sex crime (http://www.ksl.com/?sid=10576265&nid=148) and several police officers receiving a slap on the wrist for other crimes (http://www.policeone.com/investigations/articles/1975741-Five-Utah-cops-lose-certification-for-life/). A policeman ran over and killed a pedestrian on University Avenue at 500 South hardly made the news! Plenty of similar cases follow the same pattern! My point is this: History shows a pattern in the legal and justice system of favoritism to the wealthy, white, Mormon and Republican. (not necessarily in that order). Event he Department of Justice website (http://www.cga.ct.gov/2008/rpt/2008-R-0008.htm) reports Utah Rate of Incarceration per 100,000 Population: 392 Whites, 3588 Blacks and 838 Hispanics or in other words 9.2 Afro Americans per 1 Caucasian per 100,000. Amazing given that Afro Americas represent 0.8 percent of the population and Caucasians represent 89.9 percent of the population (http://www.infoplease.com/us/census/data/utah/)

Dear sweet little Gary Coleman that I remember from Diff'rent Strokes. It's sad that you've died, at least you're in a better place now. And you'll always be remembered especially as precious cute little Arnold. Now you'll be saying "Watchoo Talkin' Bout Jesus?" (haha) Rest In Peace Gary! :) My sympathy goes out to his family! -Erica
