Salt Lake City (ABC 4 News) Utah has just been named the Best State for Business and Careers by Forbes magazine.

Scott Beck, the Chief Operating Officer at Utah based CHG Health Care Services says, he's not surprised. "It's something we've known for a long time. So, it's no surprise to us." The nationwide company - which recruits and staffs doctors and nurses across the county has its headquarters here in Salt Lake. And 650 employees of the company's 11-hundred employees are based here as well. "We've grown a lot in the last ten years. We have doubled in size over that period of time."

Of course, the number one ranking by Forbes magazine is great news for existing Utah businesses. Salt Lake City Chamber of Commerce CEO Lane Beattie says, "It means we have been acknowledged as being a place for people to do business."

However, both Beattie and Economic Development Corporation President Jeff Edwards say it will also have a direct impact on bringing even more business to Utah. Edwards says, "Companies and site selections consultants watch these rankings very, very carefully. And when something like this happens - it changes the conversation we can have with businesses as we knock on doors." And Beattie adds, "This isn't just a blip in time. This is literally an experience that has been created over a long period of time and that is what brings confidence to the work place." Confidence that could help convince even more to invest in Utah. And confidence that has current business managers like Beck - looking toward a stronger future. "We think this is a great opportunity to expand our work force. We'll probably be adding 50 and 100 jobs over the next six months."
