OGDEN, Utah (ABC 4 News) - Several hundred families lined up and camped out overnight at the Weber-Morgan Health Department to get swine flu vaccines.
Michael Jones told ABC4's Ross Becker it is probably worth it "for my kids so they can get the vaccine and be good to go and not get sick and that stuff".
Jeremy and Britnie Johnson of Syracuse were there with their two preschool children and they were the first ones in line. She said, "we got here at 11 last night". They were afraid this clinic would run out of doses. She complained, "I went to the Bountiful location and the Davis Conference Center location and we didn't get it."
By 8:30 a.m. Thursday, when the clinic doors opened, there were more than 1,000 people in line waiting for one of the 1,000 doses available at the clinic.
Weber-Morgan Health Department Director Gary House said he is happy with the tremendous response from the public to this health crisis and that he and his staff are just trying to get people in and out as quickly as possible. Officials say another shipment of the vaccine is on the way and should be available next week.
By noon on Thursday the vaccine was gone and several hundred people were left at the end of the line hoping to get their earlier next time.
