SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - The mother of accused murder suspect Nathan Sloop spoke to ABC 4 and says there's more to this story than meets the eye. "I'm shocked, I mean I would never taken these two people have done what they're accused of doing," Pam Sloop told ABC 4 earlier in an exclusive interview.

Newlyweds Nathan and Stephanie Sloop are accused of killing then trying to cover up the murder of Stephanie's 4-year-old son, Ethan on Tuesday. The couple initially called police to tell them that Ethan had wandered away before dawn, but by dusk Ethan's body was found nearly 30 miles away by Powder Mountain.

"I'm certainly still holding onto a thread of hope that it didn't go down as it appears but at the same time these were two people who were not vicious to children," said Pam Sloop, who continued and added that the couple was grateful to have found one another and were very much in love.

Pictures from the couple's wedding website indicate two people very excited about the future and their lives together. Pam says she knows they are upset by the events of the past 48 hours, "I know they're both devestated by what happened and great regret".

The Davis County District Attorney's office expects charges to be filed by Friday, and plan on press conference shortly thereafter. Below is a list of the charges.

What a stupid, silly woman. If my son had confessed to something like this I'd be devastated, but I hope I'd have the decency not to get on tv crying about him. "more than meets the eye", wth does THAT mean? Typical narcissistic sociopath, mama's boy with female dependency issues.

This woman must think everyone is stupid. She knew her son was a violent sociopath. Her few tears over Ethan fooled no one. Her son is a monster.

BREAKING NEWS... Stephanie Sloop will not be receiving "Mother of the Year 2010" award this year. ...and, they're upset because they got caught. NATHAN REALLY CRIED BECAUSE HE COULDN'T SEE HIS MOMMY? Seriously, I wonder if Ethan cried for his Daddy (in Virginia)? HANG THEM.

How sad for this beautiful little angel to have gone through such horrible things. I know Ethan is in Heaven now and being treated with the love and tenderness he deserves!

Get that so called mother off the airways, she is absolutly nuts the evidence speaks for itself, who cares what she says, they are outright murderous people with no respect for humans and/or life. They need to be in prison where others can teach them how we all feel about harming children. They are NOT mental they are murderers!! That poor father in Virginia must be beside himself for even allowing his sweet boy to come here to those sick ******** If I was that inlaw mother I would shut my mouth about how sweet those two are and pray that God punishes them as soon as possible. Not one sole on earth deserves what they did and as a mother myself I would go to prison for murder if anyone was to hurt even on hair on any of my childrens head!!!! Look out Sloops Utah prisoners do not like child killers or even abusers. May God have mercy on you both!!!!!!!

I wasn't giving sympathy for those who murdered Ethan. It is just plain inexcusable what has been done. I hope Nathan and Stephanie Sloop will be dealt with thoroughly and justly. No one should do this horrific kind of a thing to a child. It's just sad that Pam Sloop even had to be interviewed at a time like this. What could she say? She is Nathan's Mother, after all. I'd imagine it is a time of shock and grief for her. It was Nathan and Stephanie who made the fateful choices that led to Ethan's premature death. I just feel bad for everyone else that has to endure the resulting agonizing pain. It just hurts to think that Ethan had to die so young and in such an awful way! It has got to feel just incomprehensible to little Ethan's Father and his family. My heart goes out to them. Child abuse is just awful. No child should ever have to experience it. A child should be able to grow up with parents that would protect him at all cost!

So, these vermin were married prematurely, as they were planning a shindig in Colorado on July 4th. Seems that they both knew they were going to end up in trouble with the law over this darling, precious little boy. Did they marry so that they would not have to testify against each other? What losers! Vermin should have more rights than they do. My dog died and I sat beside his grave and cried for hours. How a mother could do this is beyond comprehension. Little Ethan, I prayed that God would hold his arms open and bring you home, and I know that He did. Peace be with you, Little One. Many people in this mean old world have so much love for you.

This makes me sick. It is giving a forum for sympathy....really, inexcusable. A good reporter would have asked how caring people could watch a child die and then desecrate his body. They knew they were in the wrong. They locked him in his room so people wouldn't see the results of his beating. How can this be a misunderstanding?? This isn't a result of a horrid choice. This was murder.

His mother sounds like an enabler. It is OK to love your children but you also have to hold them accountable for their actions. In this case, the action was murder of an innocent child. I can't think of anything worse. This mother needs to see a therapist.
