LAYTON, UT (ABC4 News) Using a new ticket system, the Davis County Health Department held a mass vaccination clinic Tuesday and handed out 5000 doses of the H1N1 vaccine.  The department began handing out the tickets on Monday night.  Each one has a time in it.  Some people were asked to return to the Davis Conference Center at 10 am, 11 am, noon, 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. for their vaccinations.  Organizers hoped this would cut down on the hours of waiting in line to get the scarce vaccine.

Samantha Kennicott told ABC 4's Ross Becker this morning that she liked the new system.  She is pregnant and has a toddler.  She said, "I didn't think she could handle a five hour wait in line so I was glad to hear they were doing it this way."  She was one of hundreds who showed up about 8 o'clock this morning for the final tickets.

At the Conference center, the line began forming about 9 for the first 10 am appointments.  Lisa Schwebke and her daughter Lauryn were in line holding one of those early tickets.  This was the third time they tried to get the H1N1 shots.  They were here two weeks ago in the rain and a week ago in the snow and both times the vaccine was gone.  Lauryn said, "I think it's insane honestly.  I just think it's media hype so I am out here getting it.  I wanna be safe, but I am not thinking it's a big deal."

They got in about 9:45 for their shots and were on their way home, this time, in about a half hour.

Davis County health officials say by 11:15 in the morning, all 5000 tickets were handed out and by 5 p.m. all the vaccine would be gone.  Check the ABC4 Vaccine Tracker for the next clinic.
