SALT LAKE CITY, (ABC 4 News) - Sheriff's Deputies say power along a portion of 900 East was knocked out on Saturday morning due to a drunk driver.

Deputy Wilkinson says he was called to 900 East and 4550 South just before 6 a.m.

When Deputies arrived, they found a woman had crashed into a power pole, destroying it.

The damage was so extensive that crews closed the road to have a new pole installed.

Power is expected to be out until the late afternoon in the area, causing several businesses like Walmart and Kmart, to close their doors for the day.

The road is expected to be closed from 4500 S. to Van Winkle until at least 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.

The driver of the vehicle admitted she had been drinking.  She was not hurt, and was taken to the Salt Lake County Jail.
