SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - There's a burial backlash in Washington state where the family of Josh Powell
wants to bury him, next to his sons and murder victims.
No one's quite sure when Josh Powell will be buried because those close to him have kept quiet.
But Josh's sister Alina and other relatives were making plans to bury Josh at the same cemetery where the
two boys are buried. In fact, the plot could be 25 feet from where Charlie and Braden are buried.
The boy's grandfather and Susan’s father is angered by this latest move.
“It's unbelievable,” Cox told ABC 4 News. “I can't imagine anyone who would think this would be a normal
thing or acceptable. I can't see this happening. I just hope it goes away
quickly.”
Josh was the focus of his wifeSusan's disappearance in 2009. Last week, he set fire on the
house he was renting. But before that he murdered his two boys before
committing suicide.
"If we have to go to court we certainly will go to court,” Cox says. “We will do everything we can to stop
this. It's just not right."
In fact, the Cox's attorney told KOMO 4 news in Washington that they filed a temporary restraining order to
block the move.
Still, the idea disgusts Utahns.
“That's disgusting after what he did he shouldn't be anywhere near those boys,” says Chris Pinkston.
A spokesman for the Pierce County sheriff’s office in Washington says a local Crimestoppers group made a
preemptive move late Wednesday. Sgt. Ed Troyer says the Tacoma-Pierce County group purchased the two plots next to
Charlie and Braden.
