WEST VALLEY CITY (ABC 4 News) - An amber Alert was issued over a report of a child abduction near West Valley City.

Unified Police Lt. Don Hutson said Salt Lake County Sheriff and West Valley City were joining together for the investigation.

Hutson said the abduction happened at around noon at 5600 West And about 5000 South.

According to Hutson, two men were driving in a car, and the passenger got out and grabbed a little girl who was riding her scooter or skateboard.

Officers say the report is based on only one witness account.

Police believe the little girl is about 8-years-old, but they do not know who she is. Police say the girl has blonde hair, was wearing a blue sun dress, and possibly wearing sandals.

The vehicle is an older model light colored Sudan. Police have a partial plate containing 977-OJ OR 977-AJ.

A command post was set up at Hunter High School on 4200 South 5600 West West Valley.

I agree, this almost seems a little bizarre that they are declaring an Amber Alert without a parent acknowledging they are missing a child.

Other than this woman who thank God reported this abduction, has the girls parent's been found and if not has anyone else reported her missing? At this point wouldn't a terrified parent or parent's have reported her missing? It seems odd that no one other than this woman has reported her missing not a babysitter or a gaurdian of some kind. If my eight year old hadn't been seen in several hours I would definately be upset.I hope they find her soon and she is safe.
