Swine flu shots available at Walgreens, Smith's, and Harmons today

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC 4 NEWS) - Walgreens, Smith's and Harmons are offering the H1N1 vaccine starting today in Salt Lake County.

The stores have teamed up with the Salt Lake Valley Health Department to make the vaccine easier to get. 10,000 doses have been split between 50 locations giving each pharmacy 200 vaccines.

Lines former outside of a West Valley Walgreens at 5630 West and 4100 South around 7am, the doors opened at 8 and there were a few dozen people in line to get the swine flu shot.

One woman got there at 3 o'clock this morning. She called last night and was told that even though she didn't meet the "official" criteria to get the H1N1 vaccine that if she was one of the first in line she would get the shot. However, after waiting for 5 hours she was turned away.

The vaccine is given to Smith's, Harmons and Walgreens free from the state however the stores are charging a service fee that ranges between $10-$20.

Walgreens accepts walk-ins, Harmons and Smith's require appointments.
