SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - Two women were arrested by authorities on Friday after they allegedly stole a handgun from a man, and then tried to sell it back to him, officials said.

The 58-year-old victim was selling several items in his home, in preparation to move out-of-state. According to police, Amber Romero and Brooke Alires went to his home to view some of the items for sale -- which included a revolver handgun.

Authorities said Romero and Alires stole the handgun and left the man's home. Later, the women contacted the victim and offered to sell the gun to him. The owner agreed to the sale and contacted the Salt Lake Police Department.

When Romero, 29, and Alires, 26, arrived at the home with the weapon, they were arrested. Additionally, authorities said the women showed up to the house in a stolen vehicle.

Both women were booked into jail on several charges.
