LITTLE COTTONWOOD CANYON (ABC 4 News) - Rescue teams were dispatched in Little Cottonwood Canyon Monday afternoon after a skier reportedly fell from a cliff, officials said.

The person was skiing near Snowbird, in an area known as the Pfeifferhorn, when the accident occurred at 2 p.m. County officials and the Snowbird Ski Patrol initially responded to the accident.

Officials used a helicopter to locate the injured skier, and planned to pull them up and out of the backcountry and transport them to a landing zone, where an ambulance would be waiting to take them to the hospital.

The skier's condition was not immediately known.
