Wildfire burns homes in New Harmony; I-15 closed

NEW HARMONY, Utah (ABC 4 News) - A wildfire is threatening homes in the New Harmony area in Washington County on Wednesday.

At least 1,000 acres have burned, and as of Wednesday night, the fire is 0% contained.

I-15 and highway 91 have closed as police and Utah Highway Patrol divert traffic away from the fire.

State Road 144 was also closed as crews, including helicopters worked to contain the fire.

New Harmony and the Bumble Bee community have both been evacuated. Kanarraville residents are on stand-by.

Those being evacuated are being sent to a Red Cross shelter at 155 E 400 S in Cedar City.

One uninhabited cabin was destroyed and a vehicle was also burned.

UPDATE:
As of Saturday evening, the New Harmony fire is now 100 percent contained.
