SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 Sports) - You don't need to remind BYU basketball fans how long it's been since the cougars won a game in the NCAA tournament, 8 straight losses over 17 long years.
But if, and it's a big if, they can find a way to break that jinx and win a couple of games in Oklahoma this week, they'd get to come home to Utah next week for the "Sweet 16" at Energy Solutions Arena.
"I think its to our advantage," says Cougar guard Jackson Emery. "If we can pull out 2 games in Oklahoma we can bring it back to Salt Lake which would be really cool, but we have to take it one game at a time."
Adds BYU backcourt running mate Jimmer Fredette, "That's a great thing for us, but obviously those 2 games will be tough, and we're just thinking about that first win and advancing in this tournament, but Salt Lake City and the "Sweet 16" would be special if we could do that."
