SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - A controversial dating website was spreading its pro-infidelity message in Utah Tuesday morning.
It's called the "Have an Affair Anywhere Tour," a promotion of ashleymadison.com.
A large tanker truck bearing the website’s logo parked at Temple Square.
The group calls itself “the world’s largest infidelity dating site with over four million members in all 50 states.
They claim new members are signing up every 15 seconds, and according to a report in the Salt Lake Tribune, business is booming in the beehive state.
As of March 31st of this year, there were over 21,000 subscribers to Ashley Madison.
The website’s creators are taking their message of cheating on your spouse across the country in a super-sized 250-foot tanker covered in large lettering promoting adultery.
On Tuesday that tanker will be motoring its way around Salt Lake City making a 2-hour pit stop at Temple Square from 8:00-10:00a.m.
Ashley Madison says they are doing this because they feel America is undergoing a paradigm shift in its attitude towards monogamy in marriage. They also say even though the majority of Americans consider sex outside of marriage immoral, studies show that over 50 per cent have admitted to cheating at least once.
The company isn't breaking any laws, though many believe it's immoral and unethical.
Ashleymadison.com offers a money-back guarantee if you don't successfully have an affair.
A documentary filmmaker is traveling with the tour to engage people in video discussions about infidelity and the website.
Some Utah companies have refused to run Ashley Madison’s ads.
