SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) -Utah's Dancing With The Stars Pro, Chelsie Hightower, says the news of Whitney Houston's death was both sad and shocking.
Hightower performed with Houston during the finale of the Season 9 hit ABC show. "We were all just like, oh my gosh, that's Whitney Houston in our ballroom, and we are going to dance for her, and we were all just wigging out."
Hightower says when the time came to meet the pop icon she immediately put everyone at ease. "She was very warm, and very kind, and very gracious and you know we didn't know how she was going to be."
She says the moments they shared in the spotlight during that finale show were magical. The whole cast danced together as Whitney Houston belted “I Wanna Dance With Somebody”. "It was just an honor to perform for her, and to perform with her, and I think it was a performance that each one of us will always remember."
Hightower says Whitney Houston will never be forgotten because her music impacted everyone who heard it. "What she sang and her songs and her lyrics and everything were so inspirational."
Although the pop stars life took a sad turn, Chelsie Hightower says Whitney Houston should be remembered for the person she was.” She’s a good person she had a warm heart and soul.
