Tech Writer, your blatant indoctrination only eliminates your credibility. Your admitted assumptions have no place in a logical discussion. If you don't think anti-homosexual sentiments exist in your historically bigoted church, then you are just as deluded as the rest of them. It is cute that you attempt to discredit the article and the pandemic of these problems because you assume you know people without an ounce of evidence, though. Thank you for being a shining example of Mormon ignorance in this matter. Burying your head in the sand and saying "NUH UH" is not going to help anyone.

Sorry Tech Writer, but you clearly don't understand. I've got numerous friends who were kicked out of the house (and some of them subsequently homeless but only a handful) when they came out to their parents. That was 10-15 years ago or longer. Imagine now when the church is even more aggressively anti-gay. Also, my own experience shows how caring the church is since my parents haven't contacted me in 4+ years because I'm gay. At least I'm an adult and don't have to live in the streets.

Knowing personal friends and having experienced this myself, I feel it is a perspective of the teens. Somewhere along the way they feel their parents won't except them or support them, so the teens have just up and moved out. This story makes it sound like parents in Utah don't care about their children. I haven't seen an area care more about their children than Utah; and I didn't grow up here. I grew up in Nevada and California, plus I am LDS. The issue is communication between parents and children has become so disconnected that both are assuming they already know the answers. To say these LGBT teens are being kicked out is asinine. Many people want to be a 'sad story' or the martyr to get attention. If the teens have up and moved then these teens are just asking for someone to pay attention to them. BUT this behavior cannot be condoned. They need to learn there are other ways to get attention from parents. Both sides need a wake up call. Parents need to listen to their children and children need to feel comfortable to talk to their parents.

If a teen is kicked out of their home for this, then I say good. Now put them in an apartment and bill the family $2000 a month to take care of this teen. Simple solution. Families need to be held responsible, its their kid.
