SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - Utah's Democratic Chairman wants President Obama to come speak at the LDS Tabernacle on Temple Square.

But not only that, he wants Mitt Romney to be there.

It's not as far fetched as you might think.

After all, President Kennedy spoke at the Tabernacle in 1963.

More recently, we've learned that Michelle Obama almost did too.

When Michelle Obama made a  trip to Park City, most Utahns didn't get to see
her.

But now, ABC 4 News has learned, the First Lady almost made a much more public  appearance here.

According to Jim Dabakis, Democratic Party Chairman,

"We came this close to having Michelle Obama speak at the Tabernacle, which would have been wonderful."

But says Dabakis, the logistics didn't quite work out.

However, now that the president has won re-election, Dabakis has a new plan,

"I think it would be great to have the president come and speak at the Tabernacle. Maybe Mitt Romney could come as well.”

And before you totally dismiss this idea, it has happened before.

In 1963, another Democratic president did speak at the Tabernacle.

John F. Kennedy quickly charmed and won over his Utah audience.

Now, approaching the 50th anniversary of Kennedy's visit, Dabakis would like to see history repeat itself,

"We're going to do this. The only permission we need is from the Church, the president and Mitt Romney. Other than that, we're set to go."

Are you kidding me? JFK spoke at the Tabernacle before we knew what poor moral character he had--if anyone at that time knew the TRUE JFK was, I doubt he would have been invited. JFK was a man who abused his office and power to seduce and exploit women for his own pleasure. To celebrate and honor the anniversary of the visit of a man who exploited young women, was unfaithful to his wife and family and abused the position and power of his office regularly is horrific and wildly inappropriate. To continue to honor JFK is a slap in the face to women and shows that Democrats agree with JFK's treatment of women and family and that what happens to women doesn't matter. I thought the Dems were for women's rights. Now the Democratic Chairman wants to bring Obama to the Tabernacle to celebrate this anniversary and continue the assault to this sacred building. To even think to bring Obama into this sacred place to honor a president of highly questionable character is irresponsible and tasteless. And,the Chairman thinks he has everything is place EXCEPT getting permission from the Church (kind of big step he has missed before even mentioning it to the press, wouldn't you think?) The tabernacle represents something very sacred and historical and is not the venue for any politician to show off their latest rhetoric. I don't know what the Democratic Chairman is trying to prove or if he is vying for a new job in the White House but he is way off the mark and way out of line. Has this guy been over to Colorado for marijuana?
