PLEASANT GROVE, Utah (ABC 4 News) - The Utah County Sheriff's Office is investigating a body that was found in Battle Creek Canyon early Monday morning.

Utah County Sheriff's Office spokesman Darren Gilbert said the body was discovered by two hikers about a mile up the hiking trail located in the foothills above Pleasant Grove.

Gilbert said the male body appears to be the result of an unattended death, but did not say whether any foul play was suspected.

Gilbert refused to comment on other aspects of the investigation, but later on Monday, he confirmed that the death appeared to the result of a suicide.

No other details or or the identity of the deceased were released.
