UTAH COUNTY, Utah (ABC 4 News) - Utah Highway Patrol Troopers tased a man who tried to escape from a patrol car on Friday.
The Utah Highway Patrol reports that it happened near milepost 271 on I-15. Troopers say they had arrested the suspect for DUI and placed him in the caged rear seat of a patrol car enroute to jail.
Troopers say that's when the suspect slipped the handcuffs and attempted to open the car door from inside.
The arresting Trooper pulled over and called for assistance. Troopers say when more help arrived, they opened the back door in order to resecure the cuffs, and that's when the suspect began kicking one of the Troopers.
The Troopers deployed a taser until the suspect was unconcious. Medical officials were called to ensure all vitals were normal before the suspect was transported to the Utah County Jail.
