SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A Utah caregiver convicted of abusing a disabled woman who was bound crucifixion-style to a pole inside a closet is set for a sentencing hearing.
Dale Beckering faces a prison term of up to 15 years in connection with the death of 22-year-old Christina Harms. A hearing is set for Monday in Salt Lake City's 3rd District Court.
A jury found the 53-year-old man guilty of one felony count of abuse of a disabled adult in November. An appeal of the conviction is expected.
Harms died on March 25, 2010. She suffered from fetal alcohol syndrome and was the legal ward of Beckering's stepdaughter, Cassandra Shepard.
Shepard has pleaded not guilty to murder and other charges.
Beckering's wife, Sherrie, will also be tried on an aggravated abuse charge in June.
