SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - Some call it cool, others say it’s creepy. A new app is in the works that would record every second of your day from the minute you wake up to the minute you go to bed.

The app is the vision of Samsung which just filed a patent for what some call the "Life Diary". The patent describes an app that allows your smart phone to automatically record a journal of your day, so years from now you can look back and see what you did an exact minute of an exact day.

“I think it could be kind of cool because you have your phone a year from now you can be like well on this day a year ago I did that,” said Jill Wulfenstein of St. George. “That's kind of cool.”

Logs would be recorded from a phone's GPS, recent weather reports, calendar appointments, music playlists and photographs.

“It would be good because I tend to forget half the stuff I do so you could actually be like ‘oh I took a picture of my latte today,’” said Amy Wulfenstein of St. George.

A fun, helpful tool for some, but for others the Smartphone diary doesn't seem like such a smart idea.

“I think it's kind of creepy because I feel like anything that's on your phone isn’t actually just on your phone, it's saved somewhere,” said Mazie Ludlow of St. George.

“Not everything on your phone is private,” said Katie Wulfenstein of St. George. “You may think it is but it's not.”
