PROVO, Utah (ABC 4 Sports) - According to a
report on ESPN.com, the Big East Conference is eyeing BYU as its 14th member.
The report says Big East officials are considering BYU or Air Force to join the conference in football only, but may also ask both schools along with Army to make it a 16-team conference.
BYU and the Big East Conference were in talks in 2011, but negotiations broke down when BYU refused to give up television rights to home football games.
BYU is currently in its second year of football independence, and in the second year of an 8-year agreement with ESPN.
