WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (ABC 4 News) A Salt Lake County Unified Police officer was injured in a traffic accident Saturday afternoon. The officer was responding to an officer assist with lights and siren, traveling northbound on 4000 W. A 17 year old female was driving westbound on 6200 S., failing to yield to the officer. The female's car collided with police cruiser in the middle of the intersection. The officer was taken to the hospital in serious condition with possible broken bones. The woman was uninjured, but was cited for failing to yield to an emergency vehicle.
