MAGNA, Utah (ABC 4 News) - Unified Police make a major marijuana bust in a tiny Magna home Friday. They said it was all thanks to an anonymous tip.

Police put all the evidence on display – a table chuck full of drugs, cash, and pipes to smoke pot. Friday Unified Police pulled it all of it out a small Magna home located at 8780 W. Edith Circle. The man they busted for it is 31 year Matthew White. Police said White had been living there with his wife and two year old daughter.

"My personal belief is that this gentleman has been getting away with this for years and years and it's been lucrative for him," said Sgt .Evan Mallas, Unified Narcotics Unit.

And the evidence shows it. Cops seized $68,000 in cash, 43 lbs of marijuana, as well as heat lamps to grow pot, and jars to store it.

"He's stating that he's getting the 43 lbs behind that, he's getting out of state," said Mallas.

Police believe the drugs White was distributing may have ended up in the hands of kids.

"There's probably a good likelihood that some of our high schoolers or some of our elementary school age children would've ended up with this weed in their pockets," said Chief Jon Fassett, Kearns/Magna Precinct Commander.

Police said they would've never have known about it, but said an anonymous tip helped them make the bust.

"The community belongs to the citizens, they take ownership of it," said Fassett.

"To actually go in and have such a great find, we need citizens to be involved," said Mallas.

Police believe there are more drugs out there on Utah streets, and they're hoping you tip police off so they can find it.

"Text us a tip and we will follow up on it," said Lt. Justin Hoyal, Unified Police Dept.

So how do you do that? If you know someone selling drugs and want to make an anonymous tip, all you have to do it text "UPDTIPS" to 274637. If you do, maybe you can stop someone from selling drugs in your neighborhood.

"Friday Unified Police pulled it all of it out a small Magna home" God who ever wrote this garbage and passed it off as journalism needs to go back to school or go get a minimum wage job. This story is nothing but propganda and bulls*** I'm glad that the comments and the people know this. The news organizations are only fooling themselves now. This type of "news" is dying and I can't wait . We need to stop paying these people to report all the "wrongs" of the world. I think this man with 43 pounds of pot was better for the coummunity than any cop I've personally encountered. He was selling a plant that makes people happy, hungry and enjoy music. Cops force their customers to buy their s*** "products" (tickets, charges, and fees) and waste their time going to courts and respecting people that deserve no respect or authority. Cops cause much more pain to our community than this "drug dealer" ever did. Change is coming and it is coming fast. We will be rid of fascist propaganda news organizations and imperialistic pig cops with in my life time I can't wait. ABC 4 we the people don't like you or value what you do or pass of as journalism or news. Please change or cease to exist, signed Everyone who cares in Utah

"Police believe the drugs White was distributing may have ended up in the hands of kids". Here is the Propaganda at it's best!!! How the heck do they know that? And I hope you feel this "bust" (because of a snitch)is monumental. You need to get a life Utah police. I'm so sure you have a bunch of child predators to go after as well as the polygamists in your state. Before you all pat yourselves on the back, you need to recheck your priorities.

Reviewing the comments below and admittedly being a "salty" critic of those who claim to be professional broadcasters and journalists, I'll have to acquiesce a bit and give ABC4's Brian Carlson a pass on this one for detailing some pertinent facts about this story. Having lost both relatives and friends in WW II, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, and even as recently as the massacre at Fort Hood, I've learned a few things during my 7-plus decades here in mortality this time around. I well remember as a young child when the US government paid farmers to grow hemp (marijuana) for ropes during WW II. It was considered the "patriotic American" thing to do to help support the war effort in those days. It's medicinal uses, including smoking it for relief in certain cancers, would become known only years later. Today, it serves as an important constituent in many prescriptions, but even that is beside the point I want to make in connection with this article: Have we now become a society who feels compelled to spy on our neighbor, rather than treating them as we would have them treat us? The answer seems self evident. I don't know if ABC4 News will allow me to include a link to this post, so let me just invite you to go to YouTube and type in: "One Tin Soldier; the legend of Billy Jack." It's the 3rd one down with 1,970,631 views (and growing). I found it's message to be quite pertinent with respect to this article and very profound, especially after viewing it a couple of times in quite solitude and carefully pondering its words. I expect it speaks to our TRUE humanity, instead of our natural propensity to hate our neighbor who might not live his or her life as we might choose to live ours. But then, again, the One who taught the principle to love our neighbors as ourselves 2000 years ago ended up being crucified by being nailed to a tree and left to die, didn't he? Think about it.

Who cares if a guy is growing marijuana! Dumb police. Marijuana was legal in America for years before it was banned, and nothing horrible happened. Cannabis will only help people in pain, and be a very mild tame recreational habit to others. Better for America that many people use marijuana than most other drugs and alcohol. Marijuana is a very healthy food if taken as an edible, not smoked. There is a great $2.99 e-book on medical marijuana: MARIJUANA - Guide to Buying, Growing, Harvesting, and Making Medical Marijuana Oil and Delicious Candies to Treat Pain and Ailments by Mary Bendis, Second Edition. This book has great recipes for easy marijuana oil, delicious Cannabis Chocolates, and tasty Dragon Teeth Mints.
