PROVO, Utah (ABC 4 News) - Police say the man who held officers at bay on Interstate 15 for nine hours on Monday has also been accused of abandoning his 15-year-old son at the Provo airport.

Police say Jason Alley dropped his son off at the Provo airport after traveling to Utah from San Diego.

Police say Alley allegedly told his son he never wanted to see him again, and left him with no money or shelter.

Police say the boy was placed in Utah DCFS custody as officials were trying to locate the boy's family in California.

During Monday's standoff, Alley held two other children hostage, but eventually surrendered to officers without any of the children being harmed.

The standoff closed I-15 in both directions near St. George for several hours following a chase with officers who tried to pull Alley over in Tocquerville.
