LOGAN, Utah (AP) - An ongoing investigation shows an 18-year-old Utah State University student was distracted by a phone when she died in a January crash in Idaho, minutes after posting on Facebook.

Idaho State Police say following too closely, speeding and inattention were factors when Taylor Sauer slammed into the back of a slow-moving semi-truck Jan. 14 on Interstate 84 near Mountain Home.

ISP Patrol Lt. Sheldon Kelley tells The Associated Press that earlier information indicating Sauer had not been distracted was based on a preliminary report that's since been superseded.

Kelley says Sauer was texting throughout her drive from Logan, Utah. A Facebook post from her reads, "I can't discuss this matter now. Driving and Facebooking is not safe!"

Another semi hit the back of Sauer's car before running off the road.

nothing is that important to be on the phone while driving, if you need to be on the phone get off the road to a safe location then take or make the call. I have called my children from home and if i hear what sounds like traffic,i ask if they are driving ,if the answer is yes i say good bye ,call me when you get home.
