SANDY, Utah (ABC 4 News) – Unified Police have identified the man found murdered while firefighters were fighting a house fire.
The man has been identified as 59-year-old Ralph J. Salazar, the homeowner. The female has not yet been identified.
Police say the man and woman that were found dead inside a burned home near Sandy had been shot to death.
Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal says the two people found Friday morning in a master bedroom on Ksel Drive.
Detectives say the blaze doesn't appear to be accidental. The victims were killed as a result of the injuries sustained from a shooting. The evidence suggests that the homicide was not random.
Hoyal says the fire has made it difficult to collect and process evidence at the scene, and detectives are seeking the public's help trying to solve the case.
Unified Police Detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in this case.
If anyone has information, saw anything suspicious, or has addition suspect information they are asked to contact UPD at 801-743-5915.
