Time to start a petition and get local supportive groups on board. Cities like Seattle, are being used as current models for why keeping chickens can be beneficial to communities. Too many myths surround chicken ownership. With good animal care, as with any animal, chickens are clean and hens make no loud noises, whereas a dog can keep neighbors awake all night long. Ever heard a cat meow all night? It's maddening. They need to approach city council, with supporters and neighbors, and show how their plan for responsibly keeping hens. Getting a council member to sponsor the proposal will be critical in passing new legislation so it will be important to have all facts gathered in an organized, professional way. It would also be wise to petition city council to remove outdated information that is printed online. If other neighbors are keeping them, there should be no problem creating a petition.
