SOUTH JORDAN, Utah (ABC 4 News) - An auto-pedestrian crash claimed the life of a South Jordan middle school teacher early Wednesday morning.

Police say the crash happened just before 7:00 a.m. on 9800 South near Bangerter Highway at about 4000 West in South Jordan.

51-year-old Randy Treglown was later identified as the victim.

Police say Treglown was jogging to work at Elk Ridge Middle School, where he has served for 17 years as a physical education teacher.

A Jordan School District spokesperson said Treglown has worked for the district for the past 29 years.

A medical helicopter was dispatched to the scene but was not used after Treglown passed away inside an ambulance that took him to the school parking lot.

ABC 4 has a crew on the scene and will continue to bring you the very latest.
