SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - Utah's own Marie Osmond took a break from her Las Vegas show and stopped by Good Things Utah Friday, to talk about her new book.
It’s called, Might As Well Laugh About It Now, and Marie is hoping her sense of humor will be just what the doctor ordered for fans.
The entertainer who's been charming audiences for almost 5 decades had tips on everything from lip gloss (she's used a red sharpee before) - to fitting into those teensy tinsy "Dancing With The Stars" costumes.
Marie said, "I mean it was humiliating, I knew I was 40 pounds overweight when I started dancing… I said who cares, who cares? I mean we all have to start somewhere."
Speaking of starts - her new book Might As Well Laugh About It Now had a somewhat tragic one - she recently lost 30 years of personal journals in a house fire.
"So I started jotting memories of things that were important to me - that were the things that moved me forward. Funny things, whatever. I had no intention of them being short stories."
But the collection of thoughts took on a life of its own, and Marie doesn't hold back. In these pages she talks about everything from divorce, to her famous family, to her weight gain and loss.
"I got to the point of taking care of everybody but me, it happens. Then in our heads we say, I'm getting older -- I turn 50 this year," she said
For a girl who admits she's always a little late, Marie Osmond said an autobiography at 50 seems like just the perfect time.
She held a book signing Friday at 6pm at the Fort Union Deseret Book Store.
Stay tuned to ABC 4 for more with Marie, on May fourth, she gets even more personal and revealing with us.
