Man steals cop car, drives to police station

KEARNS, Utah (ABC 4 News) - Police say a man who was pulled over for a traffic violation stole a Unified Police Department Cruiser only to drive it to the local police department.  

Officers say the man was stopped after he was caught suspiciously scoping out houses in Kearns.

During the course of the initial investigation, police say the suspect he jumped into an officer's car and took of at speeds of up to 50 miles per hour.

Police say the man later drove to a Unified Police station and turned himself in after jumping our of the car while is was still in the "drive" gear. The car and other police vehicles were damaged after officers boxed the stolen car in.

No one was injured.
