BRIGHAM CITY, Utah (ABC 4 News) - Officials say a Box Elder County man was shot in the buttocks by his hunting dog over the weekend.
According to Box Elder County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Kevin Potter, the hunter was setting up decoys in the water at the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge when he laid his gun across the bow of his boat.
Potter said that's when the dog stepped on the 12-gauge shotgun, which went off and hit the man in the buttocks.
According to Potter, the man was taken to the Brigham City Community Hospital, where medical personnel worked to remove all the bird shot.
The dog was not hurt, and neither were any others in the hunting party.
